Beginners Sail Training 2018

Adult Beginners Training 2018 – RYA Level 1 & 2

This course introduces you to sailing and gets you afloat under supervision (Level 1).  It then builds on these foundations to develop your independent sailing skills (Level 2).   The course is comprised of eleven sessions on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings in May and early June.  The course is Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved and is led by our experienced, friendly and qualified instructors.

Sailing in small dinghies and moving them around the beach is a physical activity.  You need to be able to swim 50 meters, and climb into a dinghy from the water, which is roughly equivalent to pulling yourself out of a swimming pool without using a pool ladder or steps. Oh, and you mustn’t mind getting wet!

Course Dates – 9th May to 13th June 2018

The course runs on every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning from Wednesday 9th May to Wednesday 13th June.  Wednesday evening sessions start at 6.00 p.m. and Saturday morning sessions start at 9.30 a.m.  The first Wednesday evening is an introductory evening.  Weather permitting, you will be on the water for all subsequent sessions.   It is important that you attend every session if you want to reach the standard for the RYA Level 2 qualification and get maximum benefit from being part of a group of keen beginners who often become sailing allies and good friends.

Cost – £265.00

This covers your tuition fees, a sailing manual and log book, use of a club buoyancy aid, use of club boats during the course and their free use for the remainder of the year and all of the next season.  The fee also includes your club membership fee for the season, which runs to mid December – we are a hardy bunch!

You will need to have your own wetsuit.  Gloves, sailing boots or old trainers, and a kagool or sailing spray top are also recommended.
