For the first race of the Early Summer series ten Lasers took to the water. Dave Hall was first home with Roy Sandford and M. Evans in second and third. In the Shearwater fleet, Neil Struys and Charlotte Duck won with brother and sister team Simon and Sarah Terry just behind.

Only two of the Dart 16s participated this week, John Wiseman and Dave Hilder sailed the winning boat with Ed Towner and Keith Veness in the other. In the Topper fleet, six boats raced with Murry Greenhill the winner, John Norris next and Matt Wiseman third ashore. The Miracle sailed by Phil Cosham and Lucy Tanner was the solitary wooden boat on the water but is in the lead in the miracle series after sailing both races.

The wind dropped of dramatically in the afternoon causing a number of boats to not manage to complete the course. Hall again triumphed in the Lasers, this time with Don Bowles in following and Evans once more in third. There was a third addition to the Shearwaters in the second race, Struys and Duck were another time the victors, Ben Farnborough with the commodore Barry Duck as his crew were next in line and Simon Terry, this time swapping his crew for Alex Flay came in gained third place.

Wiseman and Hilder were again the champs as they were the only Dart to finish the course. It was a battle for the Toppers to get round, with 2=two of the boats failing to finish. This time Matt Wiseman was first past the post, with Peter Sharrod after that and John Norris dropping down to third.
