Eleven boats were ready to contest the first three races of the Spring Series, in wind force 3 conditions. But with big breakers hitting the beach at the time of launching, the first two of the Lasers Radials had problems getting off the beach. The third one was pushed onto a groyne and was holed, many of the others thought better of it. So in the end three Lasers Radials, two Dart 16’s and a RS 700 raced.

There were three races for the Dart 16’s and Matt Wiseman and crew won them all with Richard Playford and crew Peter Sharrod 2nd.

The Lasers Radials had two races, Steve Clark won them all, Hugh Ashford was 2nd in the first and 3rd in the second and Mick Lane finished 3rd in the first and 2nd in the second.
