In the Dart 16 event there were only two boats for the first day, with John Day crewed by Clare Day (Bexhill SC) on a Dart 16X with a kite against Karen Hilder crewed by Melanie Clark (Hastings SC) on a Dart 16. They were racing on handicap as the Dart 16X is a faster boat. The Day’s won all of Saturday’s races even though in one race the crew went overboard while adjusting her harness leaning out on the wire. She was not the only “man overboard” as one of the Shearwater’s had a similar problem.
There was one more Dart 16X sailing on Sunday, this one without a kite. The Days again dominated the fleet coming first in every race. Tom Nash crewed by Maurice Nash (Hastings SC) was second in all the races and Hilder and Clark were third.
The results were as below:
Dart 16 Fleet
1st John Day crewed by Clare Day (Bexhill SC) 5 points.
2nd Karen Hilder crewed by Melanie Clark (Hastings SC) 12 points.
3rd Tom Nash crewed by Maurice Nash (Hastings SC) 14 points.
