There were only eight contenders for the Spring Series Races 1 and 2, four Lasers, one Laser 4.7, two Toppers and a Shearwater.

The wind was rising blowing at 15 mph from the south south west, and was quite choppy.

The Shearwater that Peter Sharrod helmed and crewed by Richard Playford, had two walk-over’s.

The Lasers and the Toppers went off together, but raced separately.  In the Laser’s there was an individual recall, Roy Sandford was over the line at the start and had to return to start again. Tom Richardson had a good start and quickly went clear of Sandford, Hugh Ashford, Mick Lane and Melanie Clark. Lane went into 3rd place when Ashford capsized on the second lap, but apart from that incident the order stayed the same to the end of the fourth lap.

The Toppers stayed in the same order during their three lap race with Mark Pettit coming out on top from Otto Mountrie.

In race 2 of the Lasers, Richardson again had the better start from Sandford with Lane in 3rd and Clark in 4th. They stayed in the same order till the end of the fourth lap. Clark finished 4th but was 3rd on handicap.
