Youth Sailing
Ages
The ages of our youth section are from eight up to eighteen.
Courses
We are as a club a RYA approved training centre, so throughout the year the club runs sail training course and we run other youth training courses. These courses also include the youth and adult "RYA learning how to race" courses, which are the start, intermediate and advanced racing level courses.
When do we sail
The youth during the summer are encouraged and do go out every day in sea week with the Tiddlers Nip trophy being contested every day in the morning with the fun races in the afternoon. Whether it's in boats or if it's too windy/big waves we like to go body boarding. On some weekends they are out in club racing beating the pants off the adults and this season we have introduced novice racing on the dates below.

Past History
Over the last few of years the Youth squad has developed some very good sailors and champions such as Jim Taylor who in 2001 became the fifteen best Laser sailor in the World after a brilliant World Championships for him. Another product of the youth squad is the Pollard brothers who took the 2001 Dart 16 TT crown as well as a second place in the nationals in 2001 and a third place in 2002 at Hastings. Don't forget the Farnborough brother's Ben and Jamie who took 2nd place in the Shearwater nationals in 2002 and 2003 plus they took second place at the TT's in 2003 as well. In 2007 Max Richardson finished 4th at Lake Garda (Italy) in the Topper World Championships. 2008 started with Max Richardson crewed by Alex Groves (Island Barn SC Surrey) getting Bronze Medals for finishing 3rd in the 29er World Championships at Sorrento Yacht Club, Melbourne, Australia. They also won Gold Medals as they finished 1st in the under 19 Class.
